I’d say it’s cool to convert a beetle or a 2cv or something like that. The guy says he converts also Porsche 911s, and that’s downright blasphemy

A car that’s cool despite its engine? sure, electrify away. But a car that’s cool because of its engine? You’re throwing away the thing that makes the car.

I’m all for it. If you’ve got a passion to do something and you do it well, then go for it. Much like the Abomination Mustang, I see no problems with good handiwork making something unique out of a classic car.

I’d convert a 911, I do what I want.

I’m good with it as long as, like the Beetle and 911, they are fairly common and there are plenty of regular examples. An electrified 250 GT California Spyder would be an abomination.

Electrify all the things, don’t need the eugenics dystopia though.
On a serious note, I don’t really have a problem with it. People can do whatever they want to their own cars if it makes them happy. I can see it becoming more popular for older cars as parts availability dries up, you can’t LS swap everything.

I have no problem with it if it can easily be undone

Part of me sees it like taking a beautiful historic building, gutting it to a shell, and constructing a totally modern interior while keeping the outside veneer. And I hate it when developers do that.

I guess if there’s no shortage of them, I don’t see the problem with it. I wouldn’t do it in a million years, but my main issue is if someone did it to a rare car. I saw an electric 911 last year. Came up to a stop sign across the street from me, I was confused by the lack of air-cooled flat six sounds, and then it launched away making nothing but a Tesla-ish whine. Very odd, but kind of cool.

I don’t mind it if the engine in the classic was shot and needed a replacement.
